Why be selfish?

Something's I've never understood about life:
good things & people.
Why is that when people find a good thing, they don't want to share it? People will be so overcome with greed that it ruins the good things.

Well, I don't want to spoil the good things that come my way.
So instead, I've decided to share them with everyone.
You may not care, and you may not be interested, but this is my musical taste.
I offer you my most favorite and beloved bands on a platter.

For my first official everythingmelodious post, I decided I would start by presenting to you bands I've recently seen live and the beautiful music they gave to my ears.

This past Friday evening I went to the beautiful Majestic Theater(for the first time) with my wonderful mother for a Stars concert. The concert started though from a band I had no heard of yet called "Said The Whale"(not to be confused with "Squid The Whale" which is a band I'll talk about another time). The band did not make for a huge enterance which was different because no matter the venue or band, I'm used to some kind of buildup. Instead, they simply started playing. And boy oh boy, did they play their talented hearts out.
They are a five piece band and something that I enjoyed right away was that they had a female member. In fact, all of the bands on the Stars 2013 Spring Tour has a female member in it. But back to the point, they were inspiring to watch. They're Canadian and remind me of a more pop-influenced mixture of Imagine Dragons and Mumford & Sons. Not only is the song that I posted catchy as all hell, but the music video is incredible as well. There was a moment when I was in the crowd nodding along to a tune as they played and I couldn't help but thing "damn, I'm so lucky I'm here now because one day, I can say I knew them before they had Grammy's." Check out these Northern heartthrobs.

SO for the second part of my first blog, I'll introduce to you the second band that performed Friday. You may or may not know them by name or by a popular song but either way, they definitely a must when it comes to recognizing brilliant musicians. Are you ready? Drum roll, PLEASE... Ladies and gentlemen I present to you MILO GREENE!
Seeing this band perform live was so breathtaking. They weren't just playing music, they were painting a landscape and sculpting pure granite through their unique and captivating sound. The rate at which they would all take on playing different instruments for their different roles of each song was fascinating enough but the flawless sound that was produced was the true cherry on top. My mother, who I will only say is over 40, has no experience with instruments and enjoys the lyrics in the chorus over the pure music from the instruments. So when some older(over 40) individuals next to us started to say that they didn't enjoy the set from Milo Greene and that it was mediocre, I was the most proud daughter in the world when my mother nearly ripped their heads off. No kidding, my mom turned to them and said that the band was incredible and she'd like to see them do better. When we walked away from their disgusting group(which was only disgusting because PDA is gross enough, but when you're over a certain age and overweight, you need to stop have makeout sessions in public k thanks) she turned to me and said that she has never really understood why I loved these local shows from small bands I always go to, but that now she does because Milo Greene completely blew her away and she was embarrassed for her age group. To say the least, to me, this validated what I already knew: Milo Greene is a musicians music. They orchestrate incredible balance and a beautiful tone throughout the entire show which does not falter when you listen to their albums. I hope to see more people I know listening to them. ch-ch-ch-check em' out.

So that's it! I shared two bands with you that I got to see this past weekend. And hopefully you'll listen and maybe even enjoy them. I have no authority over these bands and in fact I appreciate them so much because of the fact that you could tell that they don't make music for any purpose other than because it's what they love. So I want them to have success, and so I shall bequeath these and many more to come unto you!

Have a good one y'all!
